We’re excited to debut our Winter 2014 specials!  Our café menus feature a rotating selection of winter specials with two of the following sandwiches or salads included each week.  Note: weekly specials will vary by café, so check our daily specials page to see what will be offered at each location. Sandwiches Jack Frost Boneless short ribs, melted jack cheese, sweet red onions and arugula toasted on rustic bread Cocktail Party Apples, brie and apricot jam toasted on our rustic walnut bread Harvest Moon All natural roasted turkey, roasted butternut squash, Vermont maple syrup, white cheddar and spinach toasted on our Millers Five Grain Menage a Turkey All natural roasted turkey, housemade cranberry sauce and goat cheese toasted on our Pumpkin Seed Cranberry bread Pig & Fig Brie and bacon grilled cheese with our fig-apricot jam on our Rustic Walnut bread Chicken Pot Pie (Available Fridays only!) Our famous all white meat chicken pot pie, loaded with vegetables and potatoes.  Need we say more? 2014 Food Wine Design Recap

Last week, Companion was proud to be the official bread sponsor for St. Louis Magazine’s Food Wine Design.  Food Wine Design is a weeklong dinner series that pairs together ten local celebrity chefs for five nights of unique culinary dinners while raising money for local charities. Each night featured two of the city’s most celebrated chefs (including Mike Emerson, Josh Galliano, Anthony DeVoti, Vince Bommarito, Jr., Qui Tran and more!) collaborating on a delicious meal and Companion was able to pair our innovative bread creations to go with each one.  Check out what we whipped up! Open House Recap – Thanks for celebrating with us!

20 Years A HUGE thank you to everyone that attended our Open House and celebrated our 20th Anniversary with us!  We were blown away by not only how many of you came out to celebrate with us but also your amazing generosity! Recap of Companion’s Participation in Food Wine Design

Summer Specials at Companion

National Pretzel Day

Did you know today marks National Pretzel Day? Well, we did! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with our famous Bavarian Pretzels! These hand-made, mahogany colored sticks are the real deal – chewy, flavorful and the perfect addition to any meal. Want to give your pretzel an extra kick? We’ve got you covered. Use our delicious homemade Cheez Whiz recipe to whip up a dipping sauce that perfectly complements your pretzel. You can thank us later. Bavarian Pretzel “Cheez Whiz” ¼ cup Butter ¼ cup Flour 2 cups Whole Milk 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, shredded 2 tbl Smoked Tabasco ¼ tsp salt Melt butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and cook 2-4 minutes stirring constantly. Slowly add milk and continue stirring. When mixture just begins to boil and thicken, immediately remove from heat. Stir in shredded cheese, smoked Tabasco and salt. Check seasoning. Along mixture to cool. Aerate with mixer and serve with warm Companion Bavarian Pretzels.

Bread and Learning with The College School

We recently had a visit from the incredible and inspiring students at The College School, a local elementary school that works to inspire children to want to learn – not just in school, but throughout their lifetimes. Students from The College School visited our South City baking factory to experience first hand that great bread is a result of chemistry + math + art + love. Check out the video below.
